E-Passports Expand Across the Country With New Fees
The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports has implemented e-passports at all passport offices in Pakistan following the successful rollout of e-passports in Islamabad.
They were initially only available to diplomats and government employees when they were first introduced in the federal capital this June. However, once former Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah made the statement, the option was made available to all inhabitants of Islamabad and then to people all throughout the country.
Last month, the directorate triumphantly announced on Twitter that the first-ever passport obtained using the Inland Online Application process had been successfully printed and shipped.
The formal fee schedule for these new e-passports has now been made public by the directorate. Per the revised schedule:
Passport Type | Pages | Normal Fee(PKR) | Urgent Fee (PKR) |
5-Year E-Passport | 36 | 9000 | 15000 |
72-Page E-Passport | 72 | 16500 | 27000 |
10-Year E-Passport | 36 | 13500 | 22500 |
72-Page 10-Year E-Passport | 72 | 24750 | 40500 |
Please be aware that the standard passport fee structure does not alter under the new schedule.
On August 16th, these new prices went into effect, ushering in a revolution of Pakistan’s passport services and a sizable step toward the digitization of administrative processes.
